Highlights: Internazionale 0-2 Real Madrid

Internazionale are on the brink of elimination from the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League as Real Madrid moved into second place in Group B with a 2-0 win at the San Siro on Wednesday night.
The Spanish champions had started the day down in third place in the group, but leapfrogged Shakhtar Donetsk, who were hammered 0-4 away to Borussia Monchengladbach earlier on Wednesday.
Eden Hazard gave the visitors a seventh-minute lead from the penalty spot after Nico Barella had tripped Nacho inside the box. Nacho was starting at centre-back in place of Sergio Ramos.
Lucas Vasquez then saw a low effort across goal from 20 yards come back off the post with Samir Handanovic beaten as Real Madrid took the game to the hosts.
Things got worse for Antonio Conte’s side just after the half hour mark when Arturo Vidal was shown his marching orders for two yellow cards in quick succession, both for arguing with referee Anthony Taylor. The Chilean had gone down inside the penalty area moments earlier with play waved on. Replays showed Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane winning the ball fairly.
The game never looked in doubt but was certainly all over on the hour when Real Madrid doubled their lead. Vasquez’s cross appeared to be volleyed into the goal by Rodrygo with his first touch after coming on, though replays showed the deflection from Achraf Hakimi, signed from Real Madrid this summer, will credit the defender with an own goal.
Gladbach top the group on eight points, with Real Madrid one point behind. Inter prop up the group, five points behind the Spanish giants and with only two games left to play.
