Highlights: Tottenham 0-1 Ajax

Ajax were 1-0 winners in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur in North London on Tuesday evening.

Donny van de Beek scored the only goal of the game on 16 minutes as the young superstar found plenty of time and space inside the Spurs penalty area before placing the ball past Hugo Lloris into the bottom corner.

The Dutch Eredivisie league leaders were all over Tottenham during the first half before the game turned when Jan Vertonghen went off on 39 minutes with an apparent broken nose.

Mauricio Pochettino switched from a 3-5-2 to a 4-2-3-1 and Tottenham were on top in the possession and territory stats for the remainder of the game.

However, Spurs failed to ever test Andre Onana in the Ajax goal with Matthijs de Ligt and Daley Blind protecting their goalkeeper.

Ajax actually came the closest to scoring the second goal of the game when David Neres scuffed an effort across goal onto the post in the final 20 minutes.

Tottenham have every reason to believe they can still make the final when they go to Amsterdam next weekend, with Heung-min Son back from suspension. Ajax face Willem II in the Dutch Cup final at De Kuip this Sunday.
