Tottenham trying to sign Alessandro Bastoni

Alessandro Bastoni, an Inter Milan defender, has delivered a cryptic transfer hint amid Chelsea and Tottenham transfer speculation.

The Italian international, who was just in London for Argentina’s Finalissima loss to Lionel Messi, appears to be a popular choice for all Premier League teams to consider as some of the top six try to bolster their backlines.

Chelsea are undertaking a big defensive reshuffle, with three defenders anticipated to follow the already-departed Antonio Rudiger out the exit door, but Antonio Conte is seeking to leave his mark on Tottenham with numerous additions that might enhance their backline.

And Bastoni was undoubtedly a top priority for the north Londoners even before Chelsea entered the picture in their search for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

This was corroborated by, who stated that Conte was the driving force behind the Lilywhites’ interest in the Italian.

“There are two sides to this story: Alessandro Bastoni is said to want to play under Antonio Conte again at some time, but he is happy at Inter Milan right now, and it’s worth noting that he only turned 23 last month, so he’s still young in terms of his career and moving away from Italy.

For someone like [Cristian] Romero, who had already left his home, “Tottenham’s chief writer for Alasdair Gold wrote in his most recent Q&A segment.

“Spurs’ hope is that Bastoni can bring added quality to the left side of Tottenham’s back three to complement Romero’s strength and quality on the other side.

“They see him as a potential heir to Jan Vertonghen with a similar skilful style to the Belgian in being a ball-playing defender rather than an aggressive one like Romero.

“That could potentially make his adaptation to the physical nature of the Premier League slightly more gradual than the Argentine’s, and perhaps that is a concern the player also holds.”

Not only has Bastoni stated his position, but his representatives have also stated that an Internazionale exit is unlikely based on what they have revealed and leaked to the Italian media. Something the 23-year-old wanted to emphasise with his enigmatic but meaningful reaction.

On an Inter Milan news aggregator channel on Instagram, their number 95 answered to the representatives’ remarks with two emojis that summarise where his heart is right now. A declaration of purpose that will now push Chelsea and Tottenham to look elsewhere!
