Looking ahead to Week 19

By on 15th January 2021

There are a number of Premier League matches that are set to take place over the upcoming weekend that can have major implications on how the table might look.

Indeed, some of the best tipsters will be looking to provide their hot-takes on what they predict might happen over the course of the three matchdays – Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

With a plethora of interesting games to take a look at, we shall get started.

Saturday

Wolves vs West Bromwich Albion; Leeds United vs Brighton & Hove Albion; West Ham United vs Burnley; Fulham vs Chelsea; Leicester City vs Southampton.

Saturday is looking incredibly tasty for anyone looking to get involved in football betting over the course of the weekend, as each of the five matches set to be played have a storyline attached to it.

Arguably two of the best games of the day are derby matches with Wolves and West Brom competing in the Black Country derby for the first time in nearly a decade as each team has yo-yoed up and down the Football League, whilst Fulham vs Chelsea might not be considered a big derby, but with the sides close in proximity to each other, it is a London derby nonetheless.

The other top game of the day would have to be Leicester vs Southampton, with both sides impressing in the Premier League. The Saints will want to replicate their last performance against the Foxes – a 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium following their embarrassing 0-9 defeat in October 2019.

Sunday

Sheffield United vs Tottenham Hotspur; Liverpool vs Manchester United; Manchester City vs Crystal Palace

The game of the weekend, let alone Sunday, is the battle between the current top-two of the Premier League. Liverpool will host Manchester United with both sides in a little contrasting form.

Liverpool have struggled to get the results they desire recently, whilst United have crept up the table and put themselves at the top of the pile.

However, Manchester City’s game against Crystal Palace gives them the chance to catch either/both of them, but Pep Guardiola’s side will need to be at their best as the Eagles have upset City at the Etihad Stadium on a couple of occasions.

Monday

Arsenal vs Newcastle United

Monday will see Premier League week 19 concluded with a match in the capital as Arsenal will meet Newcastle United for the second time in 10 days following their FA Cup tie.

The Gunners are on a good run of form and look to be turning things around, whilst the Magpies are sliding down the Premier League table. Hopefully, there will be some attacking football on display and not a bore draw as we head into the FA Cup on Tuesday.
