Highlights: Newcastle 0-3 Brighton

Neal Maupay scored twice in the opening seven minutes as Brighton & Hove Albion thrashed Newcastle United 3-0 at St James’ Park on Sunday.
The French striker was gifted a penalty kick inside four minutes when Allan Saint-Maximin foolishly slid in from behind on Tariq Lamptey with no chance of getting the ball.
Maupay blasted the ball down the middle as Karl Darlow dived out of the way.
The 24-year-old doubled the lead three minutes later with a cheeky flick from Leandro Trossard’s low cross into the six-yard box. The referee’s assistant initially flagged for offside before VAR corrected the decision. 2-0.
Callum Wilson should have reduced the deficit in the second half but headed over unmarked from a couple of yards out in the centre of the six-yard box.
Trossard cracked the post from 25 yards with Darlow beaten before Aaron Connolly made it 3-0 in the final 10 minutes.
It wasn’t a perfect day for Graham Potter’s side as Yves Bissouma was shown a straight red card when he attempted a flick, missed the ball and caught Jamal Lewis in the face with his studs.
