Eddie Nketiah was the hero on Saturday lunchtime by coming on as a substitute and pop up with a late winner to give Arsenal maximum points after two games.

Alexandre Lacazette had opened the scoring on 25 minutes with a bullet header that was the Gunners’ only shot on target in the first half.

Although Mikel Arteta’s side saw 63% of the possession it was the visitors who created the most chances. Tomas Soucek headed against the bar before Michail Antonio poked home from close range to equaliser just before half-time.

Ryan Fredericks provided the assist via a low cross into the six-yard box as the West Ham right-back got the better of Sead Kolasinac. The Bosnia & Herzegovina was named in the starting lineup about 10 mintues before kickoff as Kieran Tierney suffered a hip injury in the warm-up.

Arsenal only got on top of the game in the final 15 minutes and got their breakthrough in the 85th minute when Bukayo Saka played in Dani Ceballos who squared the ball past Lukasz Fabianski to give Eddie Nketiah a tap in from close range.

The Gunners are away to Leicester City in the EFL Cup on Wednesday before travelling to Liverpool in their next Premier League game on Monday 28 September.
