Highlights: Borussia Dortmund 4-0 Schalke 04
The 2019-20 Bundesliga season restarted on Saturday as Borussia Dortmund hammered rivals Schalke 04 4-0 at Signal Iduna Park in one of the opening kickoffs.
Erling Haaland started where he left off by opening the scoring on half hour before a defensive howler from young Schalke goalkeeper Marcus Schubert gifted the hosts possession leading to Raphael Guerreiro’s goal to make it 2-0.
Within three minutes of the restart Thorgan Hazard added a third for Borussia Dortmund. The Belgian playmaker had only been promoted to the starting lineup after 17-year-old Giovanni Reyna dropped out after picking up an injury in the warm-up.
Portuguese wingback Raphael Guerreiro added his second of the match just after the hour to put the icing on the cake for Lucien Favre’s side.
Victory moves Borussia Dortmund to within a point of leaders Bayern Munich, who are away to Union Berlin on Sunday.
