Highlights: Bayern Munich 3-2 Paderborn

jBayern Munich will end gameweek 23 top of the German Bundesliga thanks to a late victory at home to Paderborn on Friday night.

The Bavarians were pegged back twice before Robert Lewandowski poked home the winner from close range three minutes from time.

Serge Gnabry had given Hansi Flick’s side a 25th minute lead with a fine solo effort inside the penalty area, before turning into provider for the next two.

Before Bayern Munich had a second, Paderborn had equalised. It came a minute before the break when Manuel Neuer missed the ball outside the penalty area, leading to Dennis Srbeny taking possession and tapping into an unguarded net following a slip from David Alaba.

The defending champions restored their lead in the 70th minute when Gnabry cut the ball back from the byline for Lewandowski to coolly finish from a central position.

Paderborn were not going down without a fight and equalised for a second time only five minutes after falling behind. Dennis Jastrzembski was played in down the left wing before seeing his powerful effort parried by Neuer in the hosts goal. The ball kindly broke to Sven Michel to tap home from two yards out.

Bayern Munich would not be denied three points as Robert Lewandowski tapped home the match winner in the closing minutes, once again assisted by a Serge Gnabry cross from the left.
