Highlights: Chelsea 1-1 Leicester

By on 18th August 2019

Frank Lampard picked up his first point as Chelsea manager as the Blues held on to a 1-1 draw at home to Leicester City on Sunday.

Mason Mount had given the hosts a first half lead after robbing the ball off Wilfried Ndidi on the edge of his own penalty area before firing into the bottom corner past a hopeless Kasper Schmeichel.

Chelsea had started the game brightly before Brendan Rodgers’ side came back into it after the half hour mark. Leicester grabbed the equaliser they deserved midway through the second half when Ndidi found space in the six-yard box to head home from a corner.

James Maddison and James Vardy both spurned good chances to earn three points for the Foxes as Chelsea created very little all game.

Leicester have started the 2019-20 Premier League season with back-to-back draws and go to newly-promoted Sheffield United next weekend. Chelsea, still looking for their first win under Lampard travel to Norwich City in Saturday’s lunchtime kickoff.
