Highlights: Norwich 3-1 Newcastle
Teemu Pukki netted a hat-trick as newly-promoted Norwich City comfortably beat Newcastle United at Carrow Road on Saturday.
The Canaries had given a good showing at Anfield on the opening night of the 2019-20 Premier League season and three points against a poor Newcastle side wouldn’t have surprised too many fans.
Newcastle’s club record signing Joelinton had headed wide from eight yards before Pukki struck a sumptuous volley on the half hour mark after the visitors had failed to properly clear a corner.
The Finn put Daniel Farke’s side 2-0 up just after the hour when he was able to catch Martin Dubravka out at his near post. Pukki put the game out of sight with a left-footed effort 15 minutes from time.
Newcastle scored a consolation goal in stoppage time through Jonjo Shelvey against Magpies former goalkeeper Tim Krul, but Steve Bruce’s side looked poor again in defeat.
