Highlights: Ajax 5-0 Emmen
Ajax recorded their first win of the 2019-20 Dutch Eredivisie season with a 5-0 thrashing of Emmen at the Johan Cruyff ArenA on Saturday.
Donny van de Beek scored the only goal of the first half when he gave Erik ten Hag’s side a 27th minute lead when he passed the ball into Dennis Telgenkamp’s bottom corner to finish a lovely move.
The Dutch giants had to wait until the second minute of the second half to double their lead. Nicolas Tagliafico intercepted a pass outside his own penalty area, brought the ball up to the Emmen box before laying it off to a teammate. A couple of passes later and Kaim Ziyech was saw his effort from six yard deflect into the net.
Dusan Tadic made it 3-0 midway through the second half, tapping into an unguarded goal after Quincy Promes’ close-range effort was tipped onto the post by Telgenkamp. Substitute Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored twice in the final 10 minutes to complete the route.
