Highlights: Liverpool 4-1 Norwich

Liverpool kicked off the 2019-20 Premier League season with an emphatic 4-1 thrashing of Norwich City at Anfield on Friday night.
Last season’s Champions League winners took the lead after only seven minutes when Canaries captain Grant Hanley turned a cross into his own net.
Jurgen Klopp’s side pummelled the visitors in the first half and doubled their lead through Mohamed Salah after only 19 minutes. Less than 10 minutes later Virgil van Dijk had a free header from a set piece to make it 3-0.
Sadio Mane only made a late substitute appearance having helped Senegal reach the African Cup of Nations final over the summer so Champions League hero Divock Origi was given a rare start. The Belgian international made it 4-0 shortly before half-time and missed a sitter early in the second half.
Norwich did score a consolation midway through the second half through last season’s EFL Championship top goalscorer Teemu Pukki. The scoreline wasn’t a fair reflection on the visitors’ performance as they tried taking the game to Liverpool at times. They certainly look capable of avoiding relegation this season.
