Highlights: Real Sociedad 3-1 Real Madrid

By on 13th May 2019

Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid are finishing the 2018-19 La Liga season on a bad run as they were comfortably beaten 3-1 at Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Exciting teenager Brahim Diaz had given Real Madrid the lead inside six minutes with his first goal for the club in only his fourth La Liga start. Real Sociedad were only behind for 20 minutes before Mikel Merino levelled.

Real Madrid were then reduced to 10 men when 22-year-old Jesus Vallejo was sent off for handball. Willian Jose missed the resulting penalty for the hosts. Second half goals from Joseba Zaldua (57′) and 17-year-old Ander Barrenetxea (67′) earned three points for the Basque side, who sit in eighth position heading into next weekend’s season finale.

Zidane’s side were well beaten and have now won just two of their last six La Liga outings, with third place being wrapped up for a while.
