FC Porto temporarily went back to the top of the Portuguese Primeira Liga on Sunday with a comfortable 4-0 win at Nacional da Madeira.

Both sides had missed chances that were easier to score than put wide before left-back Alex Telles opened the scoring with an excellent free kick on 14 minutes.

Oliver Torres doubled Porto’s lead shortly before the half-hour mark finishing off a sweeping move into the bottom corner.

A Jesus Corona goal (59′) and a Moussa Marega penalty (88′) in the second half made for an emphatic scoreline. The result put Sergio Conceicao’s side top of the league by one point prior to Benfica’s 3-2 win away to Rio Ave later on Sunday evening.

FC Porto play host to Sporting Club of Portugal in their season finale next Saturday, needing a win and a Benfica loss in order to defend last season’s championship.
