Highlights: Braga 1-4 Benfica

By on 28th April 2019

Benfica scored four goals in the final half hour to come from behind in a 4-1 win at Sporting Braga to put one hand on the 2018-19 Portuguese Primeira Liga title.

Bruno Lage, who replaced Rui Vitoria at the start of January, has won 15 of his 16 league games in charge of the Lisbon giants, with the exception of a 2-2 draw at home to Belenenses in March, guiding Benfica to a two-point lead over rivals FC Porto with only three games to play. FC Porto were held 2-2 at Rio Ave on Friday night.

Sporting Braga had taken a 35th minute lead on Sunday courtesy of a Wilson Eduardo penalty. However, the visitors equalised from the penalty spot themselves on the hour and then took the lead through the same method six minutes later. Both spot kicks were converted by Pizzi.

Ruben Dias headed Benfica into a 3-1 lead on 69 minutes before a superb solo run and finish from Rafa Silva made it 4-1 to the visitors in the final minute.

Benfica host Portimonense next Saturday before travelling to Rio Ave and then hosting Santa Clara in their final three fixtures of the season.
