Highlights: Celtic 1-0 Kilmarnock

By on 27th April 2019

Celtic marked the passing of Bill McNeill with a 1-0 win at Celtic Park on Saturday to move them within one point of the Scottish Premiership title, with three games to play.

Centre-back Jozo Simunovic headed in the game’s only goal, wearing the jersey graced by the Lisbon Lion and former manager, who passed away on Monday. The goal also came in the 67th minute – it was 1967 that McNeil lead Celtic to European Cup glory.

This game was anything but one-way traffic as Kilmarnock forced the home side’s goalkeeper, Scott Bain, into a number of saves as Neil Lennon’s side had to work hard for their victory against a side facing a number of suspensions throughout their side on Saturday.

Should Rangers fail to beat Aberdeen at Ibrox on Sunday their city rivals will be crowned champions for an eighth successive season. Kilmarnock remain in fourth place, three points behind Aberdeen above them.
