Highlights: Benfica 6-0 Maritimo
Benfica went back to the top of the Portuguese Primeira Liga on Monday night with a 6-0 thrashing of Maritimo at the Stadium of Light.
19-year-old Joao Felix netted his 12th and 13th league goals of the season as Benfica bounced back from their away goals defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night. Felix opened the scoring inside three minutes with a cool finish from 15 yards after a corner was pulled back to him inside the penalty area.
It wouldn’t be until the 49th minute that the hosts double their lead through Pizzi before the onslaught began. Felix scored his second on 64 minutes before a Franco Cervi brace and a last-minute goal from Salvio made it 6-0.
FC Porto have gone top following their 1-0 win at home to Santa Clara on Saturday. With four games to go, Benfica currently lead the league on goal difference; 16 better off than their title rivals.
