An under-strength Barcelona side gained a further point to close in on the 2018-19 La Liga title as they drew 0-0 at bottom club Huesca on Saturday.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen was the only starter for Ernesto Valverde’s side that were 1-0 winners at Manchester United in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night. Both Jordi Alba and Philippe Coutinho did make appearances in the second half at the Estadio El Alcoraz though.

The game saw Ousmane Dembele make his comeback for Barcelona after a month out with a hamstring injury. The young French star had travelled with the squad to England midweek.

Valverde also handed La Liga debuts to four youngsters on Saturday – defenders Jean-Clair Todibo, Jeison Murillo and Moussa Wague, and midfielder Riqui Puig. Kevin Prince Boateng made only his third appearance for the Spanish giants.

The closest either side came to scoring was when Brazilian Malcom hit the post from a tight angle for the visitors.

The draw extends Barcelona’s lead at the top of La Liga to 12 points, with six games to play. Second place Atletico Madrid are at home to Atletico Madrid later in the day.

Barcelona host Premier League giants Manchester United on Tuesday, having won last week’s first leg 1-0 at Old Trafford thanks to an early Luke Shaw own goal. The Barcelona defence prevented the English side from having a single shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.
