Benfica went back to the top of the Portuguese Primeira Liga with a thrilling 4-2 win at home to Vitoria Setubal at the Stadium of Light on Sunday evening.

The home side were ahead after only 63 seconds when Rafa Silva flicked home Joao Felix’s cross. The same combination combined 35 minutes later to double Benfica’s lead before the scoreline was halved almost immediately by Nuno Valente.

19-year-old forward Joao Felix scored himself on 56 minutes before Haris Seferovic put the game to bed 12 minutes from time. There was still time for Jhonder Cadiz to score an 87th minute penalty for Vitoria Setubal but it was nothing more than a consolation for the visitors.

FC Porto had provisionally gone top of the table following their 3-0 win at Portimonense on Saturday. The two Portuguese giants are tied on points on top but with Benfica having a superior goal difference.
