Highlights: Real Madrid 2-1 Eibar

Real Madrid came from behind to beat Eibar 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Saturday to maintain their third place in the La Liga table.

Karim Benzema scored the winning goal 10 minutes from time after the minnows had led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Marc Cardona’s goal after 39 minutes.

Zinedine Zidane had suffered his first defeat in his second spell as Madrid boss on Wednesday night when his side went down 2-1 at Valencia.

His team were determined not to left last season’s Champions League winning manager down for a second successive game as Benzema equalised on the hour by heading home Marco Asensio’s cross. The French striker turned up to score the winner 20 minutes later when he tucked home Toni Kroos’ cross.

Real Madrid are out of the title race as they trail Barcelona by 10 points having played a game more than the defending champions, who are in action against Atletico Madrid later.

There was still time for Benzema to hit the fame of the goal in the closing stages.
