Highlights: Valencia 2-1 Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane suffered his first defeat in his second spell as Real Madrid manager as the 1998 World Cup winner saw his side beaten 2-1 at Valencia on Wednesday evening.
It was the Spanish giants’ ninth defeat of the season – as many as they lost in their two previous campaigns combined.
Portuguese midfielder Goncalo Guedes side-footed in for the hosts in the first half before Ezequiel Garay headed in the second seven minutes from time to give Marcelino’s side a 2-0 lead.
Karim Benzema pulled a goal back in injury-time for the visitors but there was no time remaining to claim a point.
Prior to their late consolation goal, Real Madrid had created very little at the Mestalla and missed the opportunity to move within 10 points of leaders Barcelona, who were held 4-4 at Villarreal 24 hours earlier.
With eight games remaining, Real Madrid are in third place, 13 points behind their rivals and five behind city rivals Atletico Madrid. Victory for Valencia saw them move up to fifth place, now only one point behind Getafe in a battle for the final Champions League spot.
