Highlights: Villarreal 4-4 Barcelona

Barcelona and Villarreal played out one of the games of the season as the two teams drew 4-4 at the Estadio de la Ceramica on Tuesday night.
The defending champions took a 2-0 lead through goals from Brazilian duo Philippe Coutinho and Malcom in the opening 16 minutes, only for the score to be halved midway through the first half through Samuel Chukwueze’s strike.
Ernesto Valverde’s side had dominated the opening half and it was assumed that the Catalans would run out comfortable winners after the break.
However, goals from Karl Toko Ekambi (51′), Vicente Iborra (62′) and substitute Carlos Bacca (80′) turned the game on its head as the Yellow Submarines took a 4-2 lead.
Barcelona would score two dramatic late goals to share the spoils as Lionel Messi scored a free kick in the final minute before Luis Suarez equalised three minutes into stoppage time.
The struggling hosts had Alvaro Gonzalez sent off with five minutes to go at 4-2 before Valverde’s side took advantage with substitute Messi and Suarez getting on the scoresheet.
Barcelona are now eight points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid going into Saturday’s meeting at the Nou Camp after Diego Simeone’s side were 2-0 winners over Girona this evening.
