Highlights: Napoli 1-1 PSG

By on 7th November 2018

Paris Saint-Germain picked up an important point in a 1-1 draw at Napoli on Tuesday night to keep up their hopes of progressing to the second round of this season’s Champions League.

Both clubs were aided by Red Star Belgrade’s shock 2-0 win over Liverpool in the other game in Group C this evening. The result means Italy and Liverpool top the group on six points after four matches, PSG have five points and Red Star four.

It was the runaway Ligue 1 leaders who took the lead at the San Paolo Stadium in first half stoppage time when left-back Juan Bernat poked home Kylian Mbappe’s cut-back.

Lorenzo Insigne equalised with a penalty in the second half as both sides settled for a draw. The hosts had chances to score again in the second half, with Dries Mertens denied by Gianluigi Buffon on a number of occasions.

Thomas Tuchel’s side will be grateful to come away with a point from Italy, though they should have been awarded a penalty after 70 minutes when Bernat was tripped inside the area.
