Highlights: Liverpool 3-2 PSG

By on 18th September 2018

Liverpool scored in stoppage time to secure a 3-2 win over French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in their opening game of this season’s Champions League.

Last season’s runners-up raced into a 2-0 lead at Anfield through goals from Daniel Sturridge (30′) and a James Milner penalty (36′) before PSG got back into the game through Thomas Meunier five minutes before half-time.

Mohamed Salah had a goal disallowed before Kylian Mbappe equalised in the 83rd minute in what was a quiet showing from the Parisians’ attacking trio consisting of the 2018 World Cup winner, Brazilian superstar Neymar, and the club’s all-time top goalscorer Edinson Cavani.

Roberto Firmino was only named as a substitute following his eye injury against Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend, but was introduced in the final 20 minutes and popped up with the English Premier League side’s winner in the first minute of stoppage time.

In the other game in Group C, Napoli were held to a 0-0 draw at Red Star Belgrade.
